HOW WE CALCULATE THIS
How we calculate this
- Mandatory for any worker with 1+ months of continuous service (Permenaker 6/2016).
- Workers with 12+ months: 1 month of wage. Workers with 1–11 months: pro-rated as (months / 12) × wage.
- Wage base = basic salary + fixed allowances. Variable allowances and bonuses are excluded.
- Must be paid at minimum 7 days before the religious holiday.
- Late payment incurs a 5% fine, automatically owed to the worker.
- Applies equally to PKWT (fixed-term) and PKWTT (permanent) contracts.
Educational estimate only. Real-world payroll varies by company policy, tax office rulings, and contractual allowances. Always confirm with a licensed accountant.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
What if the employee resigned before the holiday?
If they resigned 30 or more days before the religious holiday, no THR is payable. If less than 30 days before, THR is owed pro-rated up to the resignation date.
Which religious holiday triggers THR?
The employee's own religious holiday — Lebaran (Eid al-Fitr) for Muslims, Christmas for Christians, Nyepi for Hindus, Waisak for Buddhists, Imlek for Confucians. Companies typically pay all employees together at Lebaran for operational simplicity.
Can THR be paid in installments?
No. The full amount must be paid in one payment, at least 7 days before the holiday. Installments are not permitted under Permenaker 6/2016.
What about contract workers and probationary employees?
Probationary and PKWT (fixed-term) workers receive THR if they have at least 1 month of continuous service. The pro-rated formula applies the same way.
