How we calculate this
- Hourly wage = monthly wage ÷ 173 (Permenaker convention).
- Weekday overtime: hour 1 at 1.5×, hours 2–4 at 2×, capped at 4 hours/day (PP 35/2021 art. 31).
- Rest day / holiday with 6-day workweek: hours 1–7 at 2×, hour 8 at 3×, hours 9–10 at 4×.
- Rest day / holiday with 5-day workweek: hours 1–8 at 2×, hour 9 at 3×, hours 10–11 at 4×.
- Daily cap is 4 hours on weekdays, 10 hours on 6-day rest days, 11 hours on 5-day rest days.
- Wage base = basic salary + fixed allowances. Variable bonuses and commissions excluded.

What if my company uses a different hourly divisor?
Permenaker 102/2004 sets 173 as the standard. Some collective agreements (PKB) negotiate alternatives like 165 — these must be at least as favorable as 173 to be valid.
Are management or executive employees entitled to overtime?
No. Workers in 'thinking and planning' roles (golongan jabatan tertentu) are exempt under Permenaker 102/2004 art. 4. The exemption is narrow — most office workers do qualify for overtime.
What counts as a public holiday?
National holidays per Keppres, plus joint leave days (cuti bersama) when published. Religious holidays count for workers of that religion. Local governor-declared holidays apply within that province.
