Each location in Checkly gets a unique QR code. Employees scan the code with their phone to clock in. The system records the timestamp and verifies the location. QR codes can be printed and posted at your locations, or displayed on a screen.

GPS verification automatically checks whether an employee is within a configurable distance (radius) of their assigned location when they clock in. This prevents buddy punching and ensures employees are physically present at their workplace.

GPS accuracy varies by device and environment but typically lands within 5–50 meters. You can configure the radius for each location to match your specific needs (we default to 50m).

Checkly is designed to be self-service. Most setups take less than 30 minutes. For Enterprise customers we also offer guided onboarding and migration help.

QR-code-based clock-in works offline and syncs to the server once connectivity returns. GPS verification needs an active connection.

Your data remains available for 30 days after cancellation. You can export all attendance records, schedules, and payroll data during this window. After 30 days, the data is permanently deleted.
